There is a grandfather period, ending in February, for DCs to become board certified with the Chiropractic Board of Clinical Nutrition if you meet one of the criteria which I found on their website and posted below. A. For a limited period of twelve (12) months from February 3, 2009, a licensed Doctor of Chiropractic who can verify he/she has or had a Diplomate in Nutrition will be grandfathered into the CBCN without examination.

B. A Chiropractor who has completed the 300 hour Nutrition diplomate course verified by official transcript, or who has a verified Master’s Degree in Nutrition from an accredited institution and a minimum of 3 years of practice as a licensed Chiropractor, or who has official transcript validation of having completed a minimum of 400 hours in nutrition and a minimum of 5 years in practice will be grandfathered without examination but must qualify by examination at the time the first CBCN examination is given or lose the credential.

Trolox, a water-soluble antioxidant, is used to generate a standard curve, and the sample’s ability to scavenge superoxide is compared to Trolox.
