Ringside World Heavyweight Champion Testifies!

Dr. Witzu, Ringside World Heavyweight Boxing Champion, Masters Division, Testifies about NanoGreens^10® and NanoPro^PRP!

As you are aware, I have been using NanoGreens for quite some time while I have been training for the Ringside World Heavyweight Boxing Championship in Kansas City, Missouri... I found that it gave me a terrific energy boost and my resistance to injury dropped substantially.

I won the silver medal in 2005, 2006 and 2007. I certainly attribute the use of NanoGreens to my ability to box well at 55-57 years of age. However, when I mixed NanoPro with NanoGreens, I felt an extra boost in energy, performance and stamina. I trained with far more intensity this year and I was at 58, (59 in September) quite able to handle the load and box with greater power and endurance. My sparring partners who helped me prepare for the Ringside Worlds told me that they have never felt me hit harder nor was I ever able to move as quickly.

Well I guess hard training and NanoGreens in combination with NanoPro has paid off. Enclosed is a picture of me with the 2008 Champion's belt. I am now the reigning Ringside World Heavyweight Champion, Masters Division 2008!

Why NanOmega³ is Your Best Natural Complement and Alternative to Fish Oil.

Here at BioPharma Scientific, we are not against fish oil. Indeed our "Joint Wellness Super Food Meal" on page 11 of "The SuperFood Solution™ User's Guide" recommends orange flavored fish oil as part of the "recipe". Title: THE EFFECT OF A FRUIT AND VEGETABLE MIX ON HYPER-TENSIVE SUBJECTS AND ITS POTENTIAL AS A HIGH COMPLIANCE ALTERNATIVE TO THE D.A.S.H DIET

Abstract:
High blood pressure has such severe morbidity that it has been dubbed “The Silent Killer”. Primary hypertension is considered to be an expression of a pathophysiological condition of the vascular system. Over the last decade, the lifestyle and pharmacological treatment recommendations and goals have become more aggressive. The dietary modification called the “Dietary Approach to Stop Hypertension” a.k.a the DASH diet has been shown to significantly lower both systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Recent studies suggest that many nutraceuticals have potentially salubrious effects on hypertension. A pilot study was conducted at Logan College using a fruit and vegetable green powder mix drink that purported to provide levels of phytochemicals similar to the DASH diet. Results on blood pressure reduction displayed similar efficacy as the DASH diet. Considering the compliance hurdles implicit in the DASH diet, it is suggested that clinical investigation in the use of such phytochemical rich fruit and vegetable powders may be a reasonable science-based alternative treatment option for the physician.

Liposomes and Micelles: Mother Nature's Natural Nanotechnology!

Today, new nanotechnologies are being developed all the time. There is however some understandable concerns with its use in food and dietary supplements. Consumers are already worried about additives, pesticides, genetic modification, irradiation, antibiotics and most recently cloned meats! So it is important to know that Mother Nature has been using her own nanotechnology to enhance bioavailability for millennia. I am speaking about micelles and liposomes.

Micelle formation is essential for the emulsification and subsequent absorption of fat soluble nutrients like the carotenoids and omega 3 EFAs. Bile salts formed in the liver and secreted by the gall bladder allow micelles of fatty acids to form. These lipid sphere micelles are a true natural nanotechnology, being smaller than 100 nanometers in size.

Lipid spheres that contain an aqueous core are called liposomes, meaning literally "fat body". Natural liposomes are composed of phospholipids. Though larger, they have the advantage of being able to carry both fat soluble and water soluble nutrients. WE want to make sure that you are reading the "NanoNews and Specials" regularly, so here are some "teasers" for 2008 to stir your interest!

These capsules were designed particularly for Stemedica, a company doing initial human trials in autologous stem cells. Organic Fruits and Vegetables 40% Better!

Organic fruits and vegetables contain 40 percent more antioxidants than non- organic food, according to early results of the 4 year Quality Low Input Food study. The European Commission-funded study also indicates organic foods contain higher levels of iron and zinc. The U.K.'s Soil Association says in its Oct. 30 press release it challenges the Food Standards Agency to "recognize and publicly acknowledge the nutritional benefits of organic food produced through well-managed organic farming systems." The Soil Association says there is a "significant body of scientific evidence indicating higher nutritional values in organic, compared to non-organic food." The Food Standards Agency posts on its Web site Oct. 12 it is seeking a contractor to "carry out a systematic review of the scientific literature evaluating the nutrient and non-nutrient content of organic food." BioPharma's PRP Study Presented at International Conference in Israel "The effects of Liquid Colostrum Extract (PRP) treatment on wound healing in a murine skin injury model and assessment of its anti-allergic properties on system anaphylaxis... ", was presented at the Fourth International Conference on Mechanisms of Action of Nutraceuticals, "The Science Behind Nutraceuticals: Medical and Dietary Opportunities", in Tel-Aviv on October 21 - 24, 2007. This study for BioPharma was conducted by Krylov A, et. Al., Institute of General Pathology and Pathophysiology, Moscow, Russia.

The conclusions were as follows: "It has been shown that topical application of PRP-C`E improves wound healing process in mice about 22% better compared to control... PRP-CE has showed clear anti-allergic activity and inhibited the development of systemic anaphylaxis..."

These studies lend credence to the notion that the growth factors associated with our proline rich polypeptide extract (PRP) are efficacious in promoting wound healing and modulating immune responses. Alternate Instructions for Mixing New NanoPro^PRP

Your patients who are use to the instant mixability of NanoGreens^10® will need a little more instruction when it comes to mixing NanoPro^PRP.

First, pour the desired liquid into the shaker cup
Second, scoop in the NanoPro^PRP
Third, place the top on tightly and shake briskly up and down for 15 seconds, so the product is thrust against the beaters in the shaker cup cap. Very cold liquids may require some extra shaking

If a blender is used there will be no problem. However, it is best to blend all other ingredients first, and then add NanoPro^PRP last. Then continue blending further, but only briefly so as not to denature the colostrum peptides.

Please also note if a creamier texture and a more pronounced vanilla flavor is desired your patients can mix NanoPro^PRP in as little a 4 ounces of water/scoop.

What are Proline Rich Polypeptides AKA PRPs?

"PRP activates an under-active immune system, helping it move into action against disease-causing organisms. PRP also suppresses an over-active immune system, such as is often seen in (allergies, chemical sensitivities and) autoimmune diseases. PRP is highly anti-inflammatory and also appears to act on T-cell precursors to produce helper T-cells and suppressor T-cells."

Proline is an amino acid, the basic building block of protein. There are twenty one amino acids. Two or three amino acids linked together form a "di-peptide" and "tri-peptide", respectively. More than 3 amino acids in a chain is a "polypeptide". Proline-rich-polypeptides are chains of about 10 amino acids, with several of them being proline.

PRPs are also called "info-peptides" or "transfer factors". This is because they contain information, much like a computer code. Very simply stated they tell the master gland of the immune system, called the thymus, to "go!" or to "stop!" making certain cells, keeping the immune system effective and balanced.

The "go!" signal helps make immune cells (Th1 helper cells) that help destroy bacteria, virus, parasite, fungus, yeast and cancer cells.

The "stop!" signal sends immune cells (Th2 suppressor cells) that signal the immune system to stop the attack.

An under active immune system is more subject to infection and tumors. An overactive system is more subject to allergies, sensitivities, and auto-immune reactions. PRP modulates (helps re-balance) the immune system.

Logan Pilot Study Abstract: NanoGreens^10® Lowers Blood Pressure!

Logan Chiropractic College research designed to study the effects of NanoGreens^10® on cardiovascular health, including blood pressure, in forty subjects, half of which were controls, was presented at the Association of Chiropractic Colleges (ACC) meeting in Phoenix, AZ, March 17, 2007.

After taking the supplement for 90 days, (two scoops daily) both the systolic and diastolic blood pressure decreased significantly. On average, the systolic blood pressure decreased 12.4 mm HG and the diastolic blood pressure decreased 7.1 mm Hg. No significant blood pressure decrease was observed in the control group.

These pilot study results are greater than those reported for the DASH diet, low sodium diet, and exercise combined!

Two studies published in the April issue of the American Journal of Preventive Medicine indicate that Americans still not eating enough fruits and vegetables.

Researchers from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health and the Welch Center for Prevention, Epidemiology, and Clinical Research in Baltimore analyzed NHANES data (National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys) to determine trends over time for fruit and vegetable consumption among American adults. Americans have not increased their consumption, with 28% and 32% meeting USDA guidelines for fruits and vegetables, respectively, and less than 11% meeting the USDA guidelines for both fruits and vegetables.

The study focused on 14,997 adults from 1988 to 1994 and 8,910 adults from 1999 to 2002 with complete demographic and dietary data. Approximately 62% of the participants did not consume any whole fruit servings and 25% reported eating no daily vegetable servings! There was no improvement in Americans' fruit consumption during this period and there was a small decrease in vegetable intake.

Young Adults' Diets Lacking, reports JADA. What to do?

Most young adults do not meet the key dietary targets for Americans, primarily because they are too dependent on fast food and convenience food, according to research by the University of Minnesota and published in the December issue of the Journal of the American Dietetic Association.

According to the report , the majority of university students or young adults who have just left high school have diets lacking in key nutrients because they rarely eat meals prepared at home.

Only 18 percent of the highest rated group met guidelines for consuming servings of deep-yellow or green vegetables, compared with just 2 percent of the very lowest group. Main reasons for the inadequate diets of people in this age group include lack of cooking skills, money to buy food, and time available for food preparation.

Overall, the findings reveal the importance of conveying nutrition information to adolescents and young adults, and suggest that the nation's current focus on promoting healthy eating in schools needs to be extended to include universities.

Our Suggestion

Why not recommend to your patients with young adults away at school that they send them a three month's supply of NanoGreens^10® every quarter? I would suggest that they might mix it with calcium enriched orange juice.

Resveratrol could protect against stroke!

Resveratrol could protect against stroke according to yet another favorable study. Resveratrol, a compound found in grapes, red wine and peanuts, and the herb Polygonum Cuspidatum, can improve blood flow in the brain by 30 per cent, thereby reducing the risk of stroke.

Researchers at the National Taiwan Normal University and the National Chia-Yi University report that rats with induced reduction of blood flow in the brain (cerebral ischemia) experienced an improved blood flow from a single dose of resveratrol! Preliminary Report on In Vivo Intracellular Antioxidant Investigation of NanoGreens^10®

We are happy to share preliminary data concerning the investigation of changes in intracellular antioxidant and blood lipid status of rats after diet enriched by NanoGreens^10®.

The Main Results are:
1. NanoGreens has strong and fast (three weeks) intracellular antioxidant activity.
2. This antioxidant activity is accomplished by the increase of enzyme activity.
3. The concentration of total triglycerides is decreased during the first three weeks.
4. NanoGreens has no noted negative side effects.

Some of the Most Significant Numbers are:
1. Super oxide Dismutase in the livers increased 31.25% and 69.6% in three weeks and 6 weeks, respectively.
2. Glutathione Peroxidase increased 112% in the livers in 3 weeks.
3. Catalase increased in the hearts 43.7% in three weeks.
4. Total Triglycerides decreased 21.3% in 3 weeks.
5. Lag phase of oxidation of LDL and VLDL increase by 62.7%
6. Rate of formation of conjugated dienes in propagation phase increase by 48.9%.

BioPharma Conducting Hypertension Study

A just released study headed by Professor Graham MacGregor of St George Medical School at the University of London states that eating MORE THAN the recommended five portions of fruit and vegetables a day can further reduce the odds of suffering a stroke. Stroke is a leading cause of disability and death. High blood pressure is one of the major risk factors.

Fruit and vegetables are full of nutrients such as vitamin C, potassium, phytonutrients like beta carotene, as well as dietary fiber. Resveratrol Tackles Alzheimer's Plaques!

Resveratrol, a compound found in grapes and red wine, lowers levels of the amyloid-beta peptides that cause the plaques in the brain leading to Alzheimer's disease, shows new research.

It could help to explain the large body of epidemiological evidence linking wine consumption to lower risk of dementia. Writing in the 11 November issue of the Journal of Biological Chemistry, Philippe Marambaud and his colleagues at the Litwin-Zucker Research Center for the Study of Alzheimers Disease and Memory Disorders in Manhasset, New York, describe adding resveratrol to cells which produce human amyloid-beta.

The researchers believe that resveratrol acts by stimulating the degradation of amyloid-beta peptides by the proteasome, a barrel-shaped multi-protein complex that can specifically digest proteins into short polypeptides and amino acids.

Resveratrol may also be effective in fighting other human amyloid-related diseases such as Huntington's, Parkinson's and prion ( mad cow) diseases.

Cranberry Compounds Fight Cancer

The chemical compounds, called proanthocyanidins, inhibited the growth of human lung, colon and leukaemia cells in culture, without affecting healthy cells. They could also stop cancer from spreading acoording to tests performed by Catherine Neto at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth and colleagues.

"There are several groups of antioxidant compounds in cranberries that could protect against cancer, she noted, including quercetin." Note: NanoGreens^10® is rich in proanthocyanins and contains 160 mg of isoquercitin/rutin, 300% more bioavailable then regular quesrcitin!

Broccoli Compounds May Protect Joint Health

Antioxidant-boosting compounds found in broccoli and other plants appear to block an enzyme that triggers inflammation in joints.Called sulphoraphane, the compound has already been shown to fight cancer cell growth. But new experiments on human cells show that a diet rich in sulphoraphane might also be good for arthritic joints, or for sportspeople putting their joints under a lot of pressure.

A team from Johns Hopkins university added the broccoli compound to a dish containing chondrocyte cells from human joints. After 24 hours, the cells were subjected to a stress test designed to mimic aspects of strenuous exercise on a joint. Heavy exertion can cause the joints to increase the levels of COX-2 enzyme in joints, which triggers inflammation and pain, and suppresses the activity of phase 2 enzymes. This ultimately kills chondrocytic cells, and when chondrocytes stop functioning properly, arthritis can develop.

But sulphoraphane has previously been found to boost the activity of helpful phase 2 enzymes, and the laboratory test confirmed this effect.

"The beneficial phase 2 enzymes somehow seemed to prevent the activation of the inflammatory COX-2 enzyme," said graduate student Zachary Healy, lead author of the paper published in the 27 September edition of Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (vol 102, no 39, 14010-14015).

Fruit and Vegetables, and Not Just Calcium, Help Build Bone Strength During Childhood and Teenage Years

A new trial carried out in Canada has found that fruit and vegetables, independent of calcium intake, was associated with higher bone mineral density in teenage boys. It follows a study reported last year by researchers in Northern Ireland showing that 12-year-old girls with a high fruit consumption had significantly higher heel bone mineral density than moderate fruit consumers.

Bone mineral density during early adolescence is key to prevention of osteoporosis in later life. The brittle bone disease is now one of the biggest global health concerns according to the World Health Organisation. Yet many teenagers do not eat enough calcium nor do they consume the recommended five portions of fruit and vegetables each day.

Indeed the Canadian researchers, writing in the September issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (vol 82, no 3, 700-706) noted that less than 30 per cent of the 150 boys and girls they assessed were eating the recommended amount of fruit and vegetables.But those boys who ate the most showed the greatest accumulation of mineral in their bones throughout childhood and adolescence, Dr Hassanali Vatanparast and colleagues found.

Diet Rich in Fruits and Vegetables Protects Against Lung Cancer

A diet rich in fruits and vegetables appears to provide protection against lung cancer, according to the report from the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston published on Tuesday. The agents believed responsible are plant-derived compounds known as phytoestrogens found in soy products, grains, carrots, spinach, broccoli and other fruits and vegetables.

The study was published in this week's Journal of the American Medical Association, along with an editorial from researchers at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, who said doctors need to talk more with their patients about the importance of diet in preventing cancer.

Common Fruit and Veggies May Protect Memory in Elderly

Broccoli, potatoes, oranges, apples and radishes all contain substances that act in the same way as drugs used to treat Alzheimers, UK researchers will report today.

Scientists from King's College London have found that compounds in each of these fruit and vegetables inhibit acetylcholinesterase, the enzyme responsible for the breakdown of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. Of each of the fruit and vegetables studied, broccoli was found to have the most potent activity and in further tests, the researchers showed that glucosinolates, a group of compounds found throughout the cabbage family, were likely to be responsible for this action. They have previously been studied for their anti-cancer activity.

Green Tea Component May Fight Alzheimer's: Study

An ingredient in green tea that researchers think might fight cancer may also protect the brain from the memory-destroying Alzheimer's disease, read a study released on Tuesday by Dr. Jun Tan, the study's senior author and director of the neuroimmunology laboratory at the Silver Child Development Center in the University of South Florida's psychiatry department.

Scientists injected mice with an antioxidant from green tea called epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) and said it decreased production of beta-amyloid, a protein that forms the plaques that clog the brains of Alzheimer's victims. Several months of injections reduced plaque formation by as much as 54 percent in mice that had been genetically programmed to develop an Alzheimer's-like disease.

Supplement pills containing EGCG might help, said Dr Tan.

Other studies have shown EGCG may prevent certain cancers and could block the spread of the HIV virus that causes AIDS.

Lycopene's Anti-Cancer Mechanism of Action Confirmed

TAICHUNG, Taiwan--Lycopene inhibits the spread of cancer cells by upregulating a metastasis suppressor gene, according to a study published in the Journal of Nutrition (135, 9:2119-23, 2005).

Scientists from National Chung-Hsing University and National Kaohsiung Hospitality College showed lycopene may inhibit cancer cell metastasis by upregulating the expression of a metastasis suppressor gene in a highly invasive hepatoma cell line. At its most effective concentration, lycopene inhibited tumor cell migration and invasion, by 91 percent and 63 percent, respectively. Lycopene was also found to be 870 percent more effective than beta-carotene in reducing cell invasion.

Such results help explain why BioPharma incurred the extra expense to include tomato powder concentrated at 10% lycopene and further demonstrate why NanoGreens^10® is the best value in phytonutrition.

Update on BioPharma's Product Research and Development

We are happy to report initial studies performed at leading Russian research centers on a zoonutrient nutraceutical extract from colostrum, rich in immune and growth factors, when combined with our patented nanotechnology, NanoSorb^® , has demonstrated a 22% increase in wound healing in mice. The study was completed under the direction of Dr Eugene Baranov of BioPharma's scientific advisory board.
